Fixtures

The season is over so it’s back to bulking up for the summer!

AGM – and pub golf

It’s the AGM on Saturday.  There’s no game on, so no excuse for any players not to attend….for once!

All committee positions are up for grabs – despite what the current incumbents think.  And just to show that I’m completely au fait with the current political climate, if any fit boilers want to join the committee, I’m more than happy to form a close coalition!

Saturday.  1 o’clock.  Rowany Golf Club.  Gear, asses, into, get!

Real Golf

We have Rowany booked for Sunday 29th August (Monday is bank holiday).

There will definitely be no great prizes this year as Chicken Legs is sick of the small turnout, although he will try and make something different of the event. Hurrah!   Poor Kez and Loz will be gutted they’ll miss all those hole-in-ones!

Sunday.  29th August.  Rowany.  Get yer entry to Watty as soon as you possibly can.

Tour

I was going to write a match review, but our man in Marbella, Manual Becerra, has done it for me:

SENIOR: MARBELLA – SOUTHERN NOMADS
VETERANOS: MARBELLA – COSTA BARBARIANS

Gracias Manual

Summer Ball

3rd July.  Hydro. £20.

Email me with your ticket requirements.  I’ll publish menus next week.  As the unfortunates found out to their horror last year, places really are limited, and it really does sell out.  Last warning!

Hey Father Jack?  Any chance of a repeat performance – limited to 45 minutes this year so the DJ has to do something for his ton?  Go on, go on, go on, go on…..

Players Dinner

12th June.  Falcon.  £15.

Let TdC if going.

The DJ’s already booked Vaughen, so no need to worry.

Tug o’ War

Port Erin TT Beach Day Tug’O'War – Monday 7th June at 8.30pm

Teams of 8 are needed to take part in this competition of strength and stamina. It’s all about pride this year as undoubtedly the Cooil’s will be attempting to build on last year’s win but hopefully Nomads will put forward some decent fellas and put them in their place. I’m hoping we will at least be able to come up with 2 teams. If you fancy putting a team together or just joining a team then let Damo know.

Sorry it’s so short this week, I’ve been poorly…..and the temperature’s dropped.

Off to make up some minutes for last year’s AGM now….and do an agenda….and some voting slips….and find a copy of the constitution etc. etc. etc.  One hour a week this job, honest – put your name down for it Damo.

Last Chance – International Tickets

URGENT:

Monday is the last chance to get your names down for International Tickets, after which, we will be turning down part of our allocation – which is not good.

Contact Damo on Monday at the latest please!

Election Fever Grips The South

Reports are coming in that this year’s election will be the closest fought for many a year, with voters still undecided on who’s box they’d like to stick their big fat tick in!  Recent controversy caused by indiscretions by some of the candidates has not helped this, and those guilty are now desperately back-tracking on comments they have previously made about their electorate.   Others are feverishly courting the voters in a bid to wipe all memory of the idiocies committed over the last term.  Those candidates without hope of retaining their seat, are putting on a brave face, and vehemently advocating tactical voting in order to secure a position for their closest allies, in the hope that favours may be returned over the coming year.

Oh yes…we’re seeing all too many unseemly examples of all of the above, and let me start by apologising to everyone I’ve offended over the year (except for Boy-Arms-Ballet who deserves everything he’s got).  As for the others….don’t think we haven’t noticed De C0ck buying pints for all and sundry in a vain attempt to erase the memory of this year’s C0ckisms, and Ginge making tasteless efforts to make a bed-fellow of a certain Mr Paddock!  Oh yessir, what a malodorous and fetid place is the dark underbelly of Nomadian politics.

But elections are there to be fought, and once the current minor ripple in the UK has faded and died, the true contest will begin at Rowany Golf Club on Saturday 29th May, with the pre-ballot debates commencing at 13:00.  So come to this year’s Southern Nomads RUFC AGM and “vote for change”, vote for “a future fair for all”,  and vote for “change that works for you”.

Oh, and don’t forget to wear your plus fours and Pringles as once the ballot papers have been cast asunder, we’ll all be getting totally lashed on an inspiring round of pub golf – hope you’ve sorted that TdC?

Super Saturday (or The Butchery at Glencrutchery)

Bowl: Emerging Nomads vs. Ramsey B (KO 13:00)

Trophy: Nomads 1sts vs. Vagabonds B (KO 14:45)

Our depleted sides (thanks to the depleted Cainer) will vying for Silverware in the heady atmosphere of Vagas’ home stadium.  Drop your tailgates, get out the Kippers and Shampoo, and enjoy the try-fest.  I’ll see you up there (unless little or littler Cagzie have a footy game, or Ange makes me do the hovering).

Last Supper

It’s the last committee meeting of the 2009/2010 season on Monday chaps.  Usual place, usual time, usual talking b0llox!  Cush – you done last month’s minutes mate?
I’ll bring some biccies so it can be a proper supper.  Widge, can your missus knock some up?  On second thoughts, I’ll nip to Shopshite…I’m a bit off Tequila shortbread since tour!

And on that note, I bid you all a fond farewell for another week.
